Using movable partitions from Skyfold can transform your workspace and increase productivity dramatically. Not only are they aesthetically pleasing, movable partitions when used in exterior applications can literally open your premises to the outside world
The Skyfold movable partitions when not in use rest in their folded position, invisibly, in the ceiling, requiring absolutely no floor space. In fact, in many installations, it is not even possible to tell if and where the movable partitions are located, until they are operated. As with all Skyfold movable partitions no physical effort is required to operate the mechanism. Our cost effective and lightweight modular movable partitions allow for flexibility of design.
Why choose our movable partitions?
Our modern movable partitions will outlast conventional wall systems. The panels that make up our movable partitions do not experience the usual wear and tear as they are never handled during operation. The load generated by Skyfold movable partitions is static and require less structural steel than a conventional movable partitions because the load does not shift to one end of the building when stored. The movable partitions require no floor tracks, no wall storage pockets or closets, thereby eliminating the need for unsightly pocket doors. There are no visible hinges on Skyfold movable partitions.
Safety features of Skyfold’s movable partitions
Safety is paramount on all the Skyfold movable partitions.
- The movable partitions are operated by two spring return key switches wired in series and operated simultaneously. Hand pressure must be maintained in order to operate the movable partitions. When hand pressure is removed, the movable partitions immediately stop in a quick and positive fashion without coasting.
- As a normal part of the operation, it is possible to partially open (or close) the movable partitions, stop them and then reverse the operation.
- When one of the keys is released, the movable partitions stop immediately, without coasting.
- The gear motor that powers the entire movable partitions is a heavy-duty, sealed, industrial motor designed for hundreds of stops and starts an hour. It is rated for service several orders of magnitude more rigorous than the service it experiences on Skyfold’s movable partitions.
- Separate from the gear motor assembly is a closed loop hydraulic checking device powered by the line shaft itself. When the movable partitions are traveling downwards, the hydraulic checking device builds up a certain hydraulic pressure that is dependent on the movable partitions’ travel speed. In normal operation, this pressure is very low and this checking device offers no appreciable braking force on the movable partitions. If, at any time, the moveable partitions’ speed is substantially greater than normal, this checking device offers sufficient braking force to lower the movable partitions to a speed no greater than 150% of normal operating speed
Technical aspects of movable partitions
The moving partitions are opened and closed using a spring return, 3 position key SWITCHES. Turning the key from the “off” position shall cause the moveable partition to move in the designated direction “up” or “down”.
