The Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is an extension of the U.S. based Cleveland Clinic Model of Care, providing direct access to the world’s best healthcare in the Middle East region. The complex care hospital is a 23 acre facility located on Al Maryah Island, in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This 364 (expandable to 490) bed hospital was officially inaugurated in December 2015. It is one of the most technologically advanced healthcare facilities in the region. The hospital was conceptually and schematically designed by HDR One in California, and detailed by AEDAS offices in UK, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Hong Kong – making it a coordinated effort between various teams of RSMs and dealers.
The Skyfold walls located in the Clinical area meeting / conference rooms (not shown) have white Carnegie Xorel fabric and white seals to coordinate with the overall scheme of the interiors.
Skyfold walls are also in the hospital’s multipurpose hall / ballroom. The Ballroom is divides into four smaller rooms to accommodate staff training sessions and meetings, and quickly open up to larger spaces for the whole group. The Skyfold walls are arranged in an “X” configuration with the largest wall 39’ long x 18’ high (11.7m x 5.4m). A challenge for the local dealer, Gibca, was to accommodate the requirement of an egress at the end of each wall. The solution used traditional wall pass door panels. The door panels were manufactured to match Skyfold’s acoustic rating of 51 STC, have a flat horizontal panel 355mm at the end for the Skyfold wall to close against. When the Skyfold wall is retracted, the door panels flip back and are stacked against the fixed wall in a niche.
The Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi building achieved a LEED Gold certification.
