At 77 W Wacker, a newly renovated tenant amenity space has been designed to deliver both flexibility and performance for today’s modern workplace. To support a wide range of tenant needs, the space reflects a growing demand for environments that can easily be transitioned between functions without sacrificing aesthetics or acoustic control.
The project team selected a Skyfold Zenith Premium 55 vertically folding operable wall system as the centerpiece of the space. Measuring an impressive 35 feet long by 9 feet high and configured as three panels wide by five panels high, the system enables seamless transformation of the room to accommodate different uses throughout the day.
This installation is powered by a Compact 90 motor and equipped with intuitive touch screen controls, allowing users to quickly reconfigure the space with minimal effort. With a 55 STC rating, the system provides a high level of acoustic separation, ensuring privacy and functionality whether the space is divided or fully open.
One of the key advantages of the Skyfold system is its ability to retract overhead, eliminating the need for floor-based storage and preserving the full usable footprint of the room.
The project was designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz (SCB) and constructed by DW Hammer, both of whom brought prior experience with Skyfold to the table. Their familiarity with the product made it a natural choice for this application.
The 77 W Wacker installation stands as a strong example of how proven partnerships and high-performance operable walls can come together to create flexible spaces.
